Space Fleet wants you to land on the largest moon orbitting the planet Crag. Crag itself apparently has no useful resources other than deposits of cheese. Space fleet feels it's orbiting moons may have real useful resources like back issues of Play Alien magazine, so they've sent you to land on it and scope it out.
even though you're landing on an orbiting moon which the scientists named Stumpy 13, the moon appears to have an equal gravitational pull to that of the planet Crag. By the way, Stumpy 13 got it's name from Humphry Froozlefross the lead technician on the exploration project. Apparently Stumpy is Humphry's nickname which he earned after a game of strip poker went wrong when he drunkenly bumbled in to the lab's laser cutter. Don't ask. The 13 should be self-explanatory. Anyone who runs in to the laser cutter which by the way was turned off, manages to activate it and cause unspeakable damage to his person while drunkenly playing strip poker is unlucky.
So okay back to this moon. Star Fleet builds really nice ships, but skimps on most other things including moon landers. They also swapped the standard joystick and pedal combination of pilotting for a navigational computer running on a simple math-based console.
Let's be honest, any space agency concerned about finding Extraterrestrial skin mags instead of trying to mine cheese has some problems. After all, in 2213 the earth suffers a massive cheese shortage. Everyone knows that. Sheesh.
Another major issue with the lander is that it's made primarily out of recycled takeaway boxes. Space Fleet had to cut back where it could I guess.
Anyways. That's a brief explanation of why you're doing what you're doing in Math Lander.
