Ok, now I am confused.  According to someone I talked to who is in physics, it's actually:
x = r * sin θ * cos φ
y = r * sin θ * sin φ
z = r * cos φ
Re normalization, yeah, surprised that there's not a method.  Wouldn't this do it?

vector normalize(vector@ u)
{
u.length() /= u.length();
}
That way you could call it wherever:
u.normalize(whatever vector you please)
