If your looking for sci fi series with space battles read The Lost Flleet series and it's spinoffs, by John G. Hemry using the alias Jack Campbell. I don't think it's been mentioned here. I haven't read all of them, but the books are interesting. They incorporate realistic space physics, including data from ships taking light minutes to reach it's destination ship/target. I usually dislike military fiction as a rule but this series I found interesting thus far.
