You know, that's a great point about the knights, I didn't think of it from that direction, but it's a very valid argument for making them rarer.
Now that we have the foreign mercs, it's easier than ever to get larger groups of powerful units, and with armory upgrades and blutrii (especially from the farm) regular units can already be pretty strong.
Providing your soldiers to mercs and then hiring them permanently after buying the merc hall upgrades is also a good option, though I still believe that conversion should cost some money as well and I'm pretty sure that your supposed to be getting charged per year for permanently hired merc groups where as it's only once.


As for difficulty level, I was thinking that part of the reason why upgrades were so crazy cheap and ineffective at first was because at higher difficulty levels you'd have less gold and less ability to gain it in early game, but obviously that would not be the case at lower difficulty levels so why would the price stay so low on those?
I still don't really understand the concept of giving people false options just so that they feel as if they are doing something, given that those ratios are so low, since again you can gain a few thousand gold really quickly in early game if you have an idea of what your doing (most streamers don't bother to read and understand the tutorials first which is very frustrating but also completely their fault) and if you choose to spend it on knights rather than defensive soldiers before having some saved up than that's kinda your choice as a player IMO.


Now that I understand the market price thing, I don't think that's such a bad idea any more, especially given the fading feature.  If it got a bit more expensive each time you had to pay for it, that would be even better.  That's actually a really neat system, and kinda puts you in a position of being beholden to the merchants instead of the other way around, which is cool.
