No, you will get the rope a lot later.
Has anyone transformed a Wolfsyre? I know someone was asking about it a while back, and search doesn't reveal any hint of them figuring it out. I've got one at level 47, and unless it waits like 30 levels between transformations, it's not transformed by levelling up. And there's no hints anywhere in the game.
