I had a quick suggestion I'd like to make.
I understand hidden items. They're hidden, and if you find them then it's luck that you did or you just managed to press enter on the right square. I did have a thought though; you'd still have to hit every square in a given area, but couldn't something be implemented so that your footstep would sound slightly different if you stepped on something? There wouldn't be any kind of item sound so you could just go right to it, so you'd still have to walk around an entire area to find any extra goodies, but what it would do is take pressing enter on every single darn square out of the equation. This is not a complaint--if that's what I must do then it's what I'll do, but it seemed slightly unrealistic that stepping on a square with something on it would at least sound slightly different.
