Re: Manamon 2: Impressions Thread

So, just walked around with Sluggugg and Salvahound for a solid half an hour. No evolutions. This is kind of getting silly, Aaron. Approximately four steps per second means approximately two hundred and forty steps per minute, or seventy-two hundred steps, give or take a bit, in half an hour. Bearing in mind that both of these manamon have done this at least once before for approximately this same length of time, and have travelled with me elsewhere.

If you insist on this mechanic, there really ought to be some way to judge how near to evolution your manamon is. Have you considered some sort of happiness meter? i.e., walk around with it in the lead slot of your party, happiness goes up? Fainting means happiness goes down? Stuff like that. And some way to check it, even if it were an NPC in a house somewhere. I know that sounds weird, but I dunno. It would make it so it's trackable, anyway. Because right now, I'm gonna be brutally honest. When I run around in circles for half an hour, waste approximately seven thousand steps or more trying to evolve things, and neither evolves, I feel like I've just wasted half an hour on your game. That is not a pleasant feeling to have, and finally getting that evolution will not feel like a joy. It will feel like a relief, because I overcame another needless mechanic. Again, not a good sign.
You've done a lot of things right, and I applaud you for those. I like that some stuff needs gear to evolve, and I don't mind the notion of walking around to make your manamon happier with you, or whatever. But not knowing how close you are, not having any measure of how to raise the counter, and having to apparently raise it to like 20-25k steps is just insane.
