First, fights don't scale.
Second, the bomb box will only destroy the three manamon on the field. If you have at least one in the back, and the protocol is already dead, you win by default.
Myself, if you're really not sure if you're gonna make it, use the crystal when you have 2-3 manamon left, even if you're nearly done the fight. You never get to use it again later, so you might as well. This actually makes the fight significantly easier if you can pull it off.
Agreed re: the airport. A lot of Aaron's games come down to wasted potential, I fear. He activates a bit more of that potential every time, but there is always, always something missing.
Just hit the main continent again after the diversion. Team is almost the same as before, except poor Venomander isn't pulling his weight quite so much anymore. Smokey the bear still absolutely crushes what he hits, and so does the ghostly tree thing, which still has another evolution. Now that Limewyrm evolved, it can actually kill stuff. I am so ready for Clubbull to learn Sludge Hammer and Earthquake; yes, all the yes. Reflorin isn't terrible; it's a passable magic type, though I bet some of the older ones (Zimbat's line in particular) are better (psychedelic spell vs. Magic Wave/Tactical Rush).
Anyway, about to go open a room in trades so I can evolve Venomander, if anyone's interested. Will post details there.
