Isn't that just the desired behaviour? Virtual audio cable (if that is what you're talking about) doesn't offer a return channel by default. So if you configure your default output to be sent to VAC, VAC doesn't know that it should mirror back the sounds to your speakers. It however contains Audio Repeater applications which you can configure to forward VAC audio back to your speakers to actually listen what you input into it. It will however come with a small delay which you can configure freely. Configuring it too low will however end up in stuttering, so try and find your best solution.
