Re: Microsoft has open-sourced Windows Calculator

Don't underestimate Microsoft. Even c++ can be slow for them, as we can see on Windows, so they needed to get their strongest weapons for such a complicated project. big_smile
I was wondering as well, what is their choosing logics, when it comes to programming languages. Not just WC, but for example Skipe, why did they use Electron, which wasn't under Microsoft yet in time of releasing Skipe 8.0, when they have their own full fledged Xamarin, which is even more powerful?
Of course, Xamarin doesn't have support for web, that's true, but it has native behavior of its target platforms, plus even Electron's web support in Skipe is used from a part only, so it would make much more sense for me to do it in Xamarin, rather than Electron.
Another Skipe version is made for Universal Windows Platform. I don't know what language is it in, but regardless of that, what is the entire sense of Universal Windows Platform, when the universal thing fits just exactly one non-gaming platform?
Only advantages of UWP currently are, that they are somewhat more organized than normal applications, and they have a centralized store.
Plus you can compile UWP from Xamarin, so this would be covered as well, if they choose it to be the codebase.
But their thoughts were perhaps different.

Best regards
