@5, you need to do systemctl start dhcpcd, not dhcpcd on its own. Running a daemon without executing the unit file to make it run properly will usually not accomplish anything other than tying your terminal to that process (unless you run it with & at the end, which has its own problems), and you only have 6 terminals available by default (though you can have up to 63 if you happen to have a keyboard with 63 function keys).
I would not recommend arch Linux as a starter Linux distribution. Its probably one of the furthest distributions from "newbie friendly" available (besides Gentoo and LFS -- and LFS isn't really a distribution, per see). Use something like Ubuntu Mate, Xubuntu, or Debian if your new to Linux, not Arch.
