@388, you don't need to know what direction the other player is facing, that is irelivent. You can use the tracking menu to get an idea of where you are facing in relation to the player. If the tracking menu says in front and slightly or very slightly off to the <insert direction here>, you can be fairly sure you're on target to hit them assuming of corse that you're in range. It can be kind of confusing at first but you'll get the hang of it eventually.
Spider-man, the only reason ultrabombs have a sound is so that you know that the person you're trying to kill is placing an ultrabomb, and of corse so you know you can use an ultrabomb if you see one lying around and have enough coins for it. Mines and wirebombs are supposed to have no sound, they're designed to catch players by surprise. I do see your point about the wirebombs though, that could possibly be changed.
