Re: Bye!
Haily,
I do understand your frustrations. I do understand how things are for you. I have you on Facebook so I've seen that you've taken the step to change things. However, I can't help but wonder. As you pointed out above, you're not in the greatest of moods. So, should you really be posting here? Shouldn't you maybe take a moment to collect yourself and figure out who all these, in your words, shitty blind people are?
The issue I see here is you're letting a small, yet vocal, minority of the community tear you down. You're playing right into their hands. Some advice I can give is simply to work through it, because you're going to have to sooner or later. It doesn't help you, as a developer, to tell your intended audience they are "shitty" and other variations on the word.
I'm not blind... well I am... but I'm not blind to the fact that yes, the community on this forum can grow a bit toxic and a touch hostile. But, at the same time, I think it is in your best interest to, rather than leave and make a "fuck you" topic, you can silently step back and examine things. What's done is done though, but you'll find that you'll get a fresher perspective if you just don't engage. Remember, whether you like it or not, these are your peers. These are people who have gone through at least part of what you have, being blind and all. I made this mistake when I was younger. I condescended to other blind people, considered myself above them. That is not the case, no matter what you have or haven't done. And I'm seeing a lot of that here. All I'm asking you to do is consider your words and consider the consequences. We are only a very small corner of the Internet and blind community. So do not form opinions of all blind people because of it. Sighted people tend to do that enough.
Have a good day, and excelsior.
