Re: xbox360 controller or ps3 controller?
I own the Logitech F510, which is essencially just like the 710 but wired. It comes with a rather long cable and doesn't experience the driver issues Aaron brought up. Personally I don't care much for its and the X360's Dpad but I got used to it. All that said I actually only play MK and Injustice with it as I never found 6-button fighters on 4-face button gamepads natural (yay for personal preference). It's hard for me to really give you a good recommendation, so I didn't vote but I can tell you what I personally find to be the pros and cons.
The logitech gamepads are the most compatible with both new and old titles, have both wired and wireless versions, but the dpad, to me at least is very floaty.
-The Xbox controller is also mostly compatible (older games that don't use Xinput won't support force feedback and the analog triggers properly), is plug and play and you can use it with ormalxboxes if you ever get one (you can't do t
hat with the logitech pads). I also like its triggers better, they're much easier to push. The only con, apart from not 100% compatibility with direct input, just like with the logitech is the floaty Dpad.
-The PS3 controller, which I never got to see in my life, is also quite good and uses bluetooth for wireless connectivity unlike the Xbox pad, which uses a custom 2.4GHZ band. This means that you can, after you jailbreak, use it as a controller in supported iOS games (more are supporting it now), ditto on Android (although there you can also just use the logitech or xbox controller through a USB OTG cable). It's Dpad is also very nice and the most comfortable. Cons, not as easy to set up on PC and it only supports direct input. This means that while it will work with older games, not all new titles are supporting those API's (mostly because Microsoft also is moving away from it). I think Skullgirls and injustice do work with DI though.
