Re: proposition: rb hosting
Don't do it. There are plenty free hosting options out there, built by folks with way more knowledge on how to secure a system than you have. Please don't take that personally--I've done this for nearly 2 decades and I wouldn't run a service like this, precisely because it seems so easy but is actually tough to get right. Also, I haven't even touched legal issues like the DMCA, Safe Harbor, etc. If someone sends you a virus or porn, and you're distributing that unwittingly, you're personally on the hook unless you've spun up a legal entity and worked with a lawyer.
If you really have people asking you to host HTML for them, send them to hosts like netlify.com. Their app is quite accessible, and lets you either upload HTML directly or plug in a Git repository and autopublish. There are also command line utilities to instantly publish a folder to your site. Their free tier is generous enough for almost any need you're likely to serve, you're not stuck supporting users, and their terms of service shield them from liability in a way that you almost certainly aren't.
Hope that helps. Focus on building games, not on doing 8 million other unrelated things, especially things like this that contain all sorts of minefields.
