Re: Looking for some recommendations on Usb/XLR microphones
Hi Mitch,
I'm going to answer both of your questions in 1 post, so as to avoid double posting.
Quick question. Is there a cheaper version that doesn't come with an LCD screen, as that screen doesn't really matter that much to me.
No. I do realize that the LCD screens aren't useful for individuals such as ourselves, but they are actually pretty sweet upgrades for sighted users. Therefore, it's assumed that everyone will desire them.
Okay, so the loopback has gotten me sold on the m2. Helpful for me so I can just mix my audio before the stream starts.
Is any of the software that comes with it accessible? I know that Big Fish Audio's plug-ins are NKS accessible, but I'm not sure if those can be used without Performer Lite.
Unfortunately, I can't yet attest to the accessibility (or potential lack their of) of the M2's companion software. I plan on reaching out to Motu and other audio interface manufacturers in an attempt to nullify this gray area, but haven't done so yet. Regardless, going with the M2 over the Scarlet lineup is already an improvement, as the M2 actually retains a full set of analog controls (as opposed to the Scarlet), which has shifted a lot of the essential functions to their software.
Regarding your concern about plugin accessibility/compatibility, bundled plugins typically exist as regular VST's, meaning that you "should" be able to import them in your DAW of choice and control their parameters as you would any other VST.
Good luck!
