I agree with Guitarman that the grenades in particular were a super addition to the game.
SPOILER ALERT!
The boss level of SOD version 1.0 was just a big room with 1 boss. It felt that this boss was harder than the bosses in version 1.2. The thing I really did like about the boss room for 1.0 was that it had all kinds of walls and pillars in it which he could hide behind. I think that this should be added to the 1.2 huge room as well, at least a few of them anyway, because otherwise it's really hard to kill the bosses with grenades as they run in at you.
