Nin I agree. But that doesn't just apply to hebrew... but to any language that's not related to whatever your native language is. As an example... as a native English speaker, learning anything in a language that doesn't have roots in latin or other indo-european languages without a proper base in the grammar of that language would be very difficult if not impossible. For example, though I speak Japanese now, I would never have presumed to learn it by comparing a book in both English and Japanese without knowing anything about Japanese grammar because of how radically different it is from English. And yoou're also correct in that sometimes translations can be very different to reflect culture. Names however for the most part I find stay the same.

h... which I believe is similar to the traditional Christian Bible. As for the New Testament... it was written in all three of those languages... Hebrew, Greek as well as Aramaic. But whichever languages it was written in, they share the common message of christ's salvation and his love for us... which is the most important thing. And I don't know about the pastor finding different translations between Hebrew and Russian... since I speak neither of those languages.
