questions about dragon village

Hi!

I felt nostalgic recently, so I started playing Dragon Village by Rocky Waters again. However, I have a few questions.
1. How do I find the toad the witch told me to find?
2. How do I find gems and rubys? I constantly search in the river and the woods. Are they found randomly?

Can anybody help?
