Re: I have a deep desire to build higher quality games for blind people.
[[wow]]! I certainly came to the right place. I never found such intelligent, knowleagable gamers on one game forum. I must thank each and every one of you for responding. Your help is really appreciated.
I asked the first question as a way to find and buy the cream of the crop for research. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find most of the games mentioned. Could I get a link to the websites of the major developers? I did see a lot of free games though, most pointing to site that don't exist, like Extant.
Is there no commercial market for games? I could see why major developers would avoid a market that is mostly free or shareware.
How on EARTH do you play FPS games? I have 20/20 vision and I suck at them. I tried listening to AudioQuake, but all I heard were lots beep sounds, and other audible cues that went so fast I couldn't understand them. I didn't realize you guys were so hardcore. [[wow]], what skill.
I have three goals:
1. Un
derstand how to make any conventional game work perfectly for blind people.
2. How to push the limits of audio games to greater heights (this would require a commercial product though)
3. Give back to this wonderful community with free games. Nobody should neglect any group of people. It makes me mad.
I have many ideas, but the one I am focusing on now is a Farmville type audio game. With a few simpler projects (thanks to everyone here) I should be able to accomplish it.
I would love to hear more about the problems. What frustrates you about all games today? What need isn't being taken care of? What would you do differently?
Thanks again for such wonderful input.
