Re: reaper descussion
Going back to post 2, I pretty much bypassed the whole width thing, and just used the JS channel mixer plugin. You can have a bit more control over the mix with it, I feel. When you throw it on a track, it goes to mono, meaning both channels are centered, and I use presets to get either the left or rite side. I work with samples so that, along with a center canceler is super useful.
I wish Reaper could have tracks recording midi to overdub by default, god damn it.
Its irritating when I record an 8 bar sequence and boom! Gotta do it over because i forgot to hit "\" for overdub.
Also, say you want to nudge a sound forward without nudging the midi item forward, and then possibly having to trim it, there's another js plugin called time adjustment delay. Put it on a track and choose how many ms you want the sound to be delayed. I use this on 8th note high hats sometimes, gives an otherwise quantized drum sequence some bounce.
Shit, I'm giving up all my secrets! Noooooooo!
