As far as I have been able to follow, CB is a continuation of DM which was based on BTB which was it's self a ripoff of UP using it's stolen code.
Solid proof is definitely hard to come by at this point I agree, but it has enough stolen sounds from other games last time I checked that it would still be a problem.
