Computers basically no longer have ROM. Do you mean that it filled up your disk?
It's not unreasonable for a 200+-page PDF document being run through an OCR program to take tons and tons of RAM however. They could probably do better, but it's not unreasonable.
And if it was your hard disk and you only have 7GB free, run Disk cleanup. 7GB is very little by modern standards and that can easily be taken over by temp files and the like so you'll want an external drive or to get rid of content at some point soon if that's the case.
