Re: crazy party beta 74 is underway
I'm afraid I just don't see the problem myself.
Firstly, crazy party is free, it is not as if Pragma is earning money anyway, so there is no actual loss of revenue here.
Secondly, even if copywrited sounds and music were used it is not as if Nintendo, capcom or anyone the sounds were taken from, has a massive audience of blind gamers anyway who will be playing audiogames rather than the games Nintendo etc produce, since, well those games are not accessible.
Were copywrited assets used in a commercial game I could see the argument pertaining to royalties, but honestly, there are more than enough fan projects and graphical fan remakes out there anyway, which again, are free.

Beats of rage (now open source:

Or a huge range of Turrican remakes complete with original level editor used for many fan projects:

All of these are fine examples, of freeware, graphical game remakes, using original material, several (such as the Turrican levels), backed up by the game's creator.
Last I checked, it was the purpose of this forum to promote and foster the production of audiogames, not pander to coorporate giants and squash creativity, indeed where I assumed the very spirit of copywrite was the protection of a creator's work, this sort of scaremongering seems directly against that purpose to me.
