Sure, they might be able to go in there and raise hell and get certain things to stop, but they're going to do with an anti-China bias. They're going to do it because they hate communism, not because they hate heinous human rights violations. They're going to do it because they're America, god damn it, and it's up to America to enforce their fucked-up version of democracy on everyone, whether they like it or not...instead of, y'know, doing it to alleviate suffering. I just see it as a really easy way to further cement the hatred of an ideology which is, in and of itself, not responsible for the problems that are being faced.
There may be a time to be more aggressive about this, but that time is not right now.
