even before 14.2 is released, if you have already updated, and don't use the Voiceover activities feature, try going to Voiceover settings / activities. In there, delete all the activities present, by default only programming. You can delete using custom actions. This eliminated the lag for me with the default voice. The Safari focus bug is indeed annoying, though definitely seems to be gone in 14.2.
