Re: Vast Horizon (new game)

So my though s on the game more.

Okay first offf,  I don't like players braging oh I got to such and such point money wise, given the staff are very concious of balance, I don't want that one person to hurt it for the rest of the players by being able to get wealthy by grinding activities. I'd like to see something done about that honestly, and /not/ lowering payouts a la typical blindie space MOO solution because that's not a solution, that hurts everyone and makes it harder for new players to get going and get things.

I feel like a few of the OOC rules are oddd choices, like not being able to give large amounts of money, but nowhere does it (that I could find) say where the line is, so if I give somebody five grand to cover a train ticket is that breaking that rule? Or the one about don't give out directions because it 'removes the exploration aspect'

I disagre hugely with the latter one. I see new people asking time and again oh where's so and son, as a new player being told oh go explore the city would be off puting to be told oh we can't tell you where something is. I get the why of it. I just....don't agree on it at all honestly. Yes I've been around Oria but I don't know every square inch of the city. Okay maybe the solution to that is destination finders, fair enough but you can't get those without a ship, and you can't get that without aloan so......at least initially you're wandering around with no idea where things are, and if you can't be told where things are going by the 'do not give out explicit directions' rule, it can absolutely come off as off puting to new people.

I'm trying to wrap my head around the points ratios. It seems like to me there's far more, at current, activiies that give out productivity than science. For example sifting is 5 for productivity and much less for science when a lot of the upgrades have insanely high science and pdoductivity, it just seems to me like it's set up to gain productvity quicker than science.

However I do love the amount of freedom players get and the spontaneous plot things that happen. Like my whole fuck Gonrah starting off an IC incident with the OH and Gonrah, Gonrah backing down.

I also love the staff got s firm grip on the story as well, which is great having been on games where the staff give in to player arguments
