Re: RedditForBlind a windows app to use Reddit blazingly fast (v0.91)
New version available (v0.91)!
New features:
- Hopefully snappy input (no more .jkm files required)
- Upvote / Downvote / Reset vote with Shift+Up, Shift+Down and Shift+Left/right respectively
- Cycle through links in a post / comment / replies with Tab and Shift+Tab, press Enter to open.
- When you want to review the text more granularly, press Space to review it, Escape when you're done.
I rewrote the application in WPF, which is a GUI framework, but the app is not a GUI per say. I solved the input problem with GUI textboxes. You can review the text, copy/paste, etc. I also added a global keyboard hook (that is only registered when you are in the application, it auto unregisters when you alt+tab away). This allowed me to override Jaws keyboard hook and finally intercept the keystrokes before Jaws, which solves a lot of issues of Jaws saying "blank" all the time without having to use a jkm file. Unfortunately, the new app is 3x heavier due to the new framework being used and published as a self contained exe file.
