Re: Site updates August 13th

Well I wouldn't even think that being an outsider has much to do with it.  A lot of the players from this community were not even Alive when that old 2001-2002 demo for Raceway was released.  If there was any progress or news since then, it must have been more than 4 years ago (the amount of time I have been here).

I'm sure the Raceway project has had the best intentions, and life is far more important than working on games, but after 4 years I would say the game Is abandoned.  You even pointed out one of the key reasons, competition with newer titles.  An audio game does not take 4 years to create, in fact I'd argue they don't take any number of years to create.  With that in mind, any time a game project is that far behind it is doomed and must be started over.  Newer releases will have already made it obsolete.  Similarly, if a developer requires years to develop a game (due to life or whatever), it will have to be st opped and redesigned indefinitely.  Before the game can be finished, other titles (that didn't take half as long to make) will keep raising the bar out of the reach of the developing game, which has aged before its time.

It is not my business, but I still worry that you've buried yourself and will never be able to dig out.  I've been here for 4 years and haven't seen any game releases from you.  There are many in the community that have never seen anything released from you, because they aren't old enough.  I believe this is because you have trapped yourself with commitments that are just not possible anymore.  Drop each and every title you've been talking about, for oh so long.  Pretend they never existed, and start yourself out with a much deserved clean slate.  You won't owe anybody anything, and you can finally start on some of the fresh ideas you almost certainly have.  A developer who never " develops" anything doesn't help the community at all.  We need you back man.  big_smile

Sorry about the off-topic rant.  No offense intended, but I can imagine ways this could be taken harshly.
