As camlorn said, you're absolutely going to need a wifi dongle to share your PC's connection with any mobile device. This having been said if you're connecting to the internet via an ethernet cable you should just consider getting a router. They're not all that expensive, you can still connect your PC via a wired connection through it and if you ever get more mobile devices, or get a laptop that doesn't have an ethernet port (many new ultrabooks and all new macbooks don't). Plus you will be able to go online on your phone even if the PC is off.
