I havne't heard anything about sailing, but maybe that's something that could be done? I don't know. You could always post about it on the bbs, and see what people think.
I'm not a giant fan of the roundtime sometimes, but I understand why it's there. As for lag, I haven't really noticed any huge lag spikes that are constant, maybe a small spike every now and again when the admins are doing something, but nothing that would bother me.
