Aprone, I just discovered something interesting. I don't know if it will help narrow anything down, but here it is. Of course, this is running Swamp in the Wineskin wrapper.
As I said already, there's a delay of half a second or more between firing a weapon and hearing the impact of the rounds, whether that impact is with a zombie or a solid object like a wall. The same delay happens between every burst or single shot from any weapon (it's more noticeable with bursts). However, I just tried practice maps, and there's no delay whatsoever, the response feels like what I'm used to on Windows. Could this, somehow, have something to do with the game talking to the server? Is there any way I could test to see if the connection is definitely the problem?
Oh, I've also found that amounts aren't replaced in edit fields. For example, I go to set a skill point, and there's already a number in the box. I have to delete it, then type the numb er I want, instead of my typing replacing the number. I don't recall if that bug is present normally or not, but I thought I'd mention it in case it means there's some other UI library I'll need to find for this wrapper.
