Yes, that would be my opinion. At this point the best option at this point would be using a Linux distribution with Speakup and Dosemu. I imagine it might be possible to modify the Dosemu source to allow sounds in terminal mode which is the only drawback to Dosemu at this time. Its quite accessible, but just can't get sounds to play while in terminal mode. Fix that and the Dos problem is solved.
