I have put a couple of points into charisma for that reason, but compared to more hp, hitting harder, dodging more blows, or more effective spells and mana, being attacked less offen just didn't seem to matter as much, particularly sinse upto the clerric requirement shift, it seemed that those spells like chalm which used charisma weren't so effective.
