Re: Monthly chat September 2015

At Pitermach: I got excited about the cheap BNS2000 reseller before I remembered that I still have one, somewhere. It doesn't hold a charge well at all, even if plugged in, which is kinda frustrating, just because otherwise I'd be using it as a notebook (or solitaire, at least) I can write in while walking. For all the ridiculous limitations that a device marketed for the year 2000 could have overcome in the year 1990, the convenience of the body and its general responsiveness and lack of bloatware make me rather miss the Blazy note takers.
(Literally being able to type with one hand and thereby be less of a danger to pedestrians than the average walking texter was definitely a plus. Being unable to get their fiddly file transfer protocols to work and having to transcribe or print-and-scan everything, on the other hand...)

That's all I've got. ... I guess I started on a simple Chatbot yesterday? Since I keep managing to not get back on it today, I su ppose that means it won't ever get finished. sad

(Mosquitoes suck and I wish they would leave me alone. Forever. They won't. So much poison. So much Off. So many Fogger clouds. I think it's done more damage to my already useless lump of neurons than to the mosquitoes. It is almost Fall / Autumn / the "Go away Mosquitoes it's time for the Bees and Spiders and Ladybugs to do their thing" season. I would like to be able to sleep for more than the four hours it takes for Off to wear off without being awakened by a vampire throwing caution to the wind as it escapes from a feast that I will be feeling for the next not-sleeping hour or two. Have I mentioned that I don't like mosquitoes? And these aren't even the ones with malaria. We already genocided those as soon as Deet was invented. If not for the fact that horrible poisons tend to poison things besid es the one specific creature you're aiming for, they might have just finished them off. And ecologically, there are plenty of mosquito species that don't suck. I normally prefer something slightly less... mass murdery, but there might be a reason that one of Givewell's highest rated charities has usually been the one that distributes mosquito nets. (And that reason is: OK, so deet was bad for Falcons and Eagles, but we are a creative species and can come up with lots more ways to destroy our enemies than that, and this one happens to be cheap. ... Do they even sell Mosquito nets, or is that just for Africa, where the mosquitoes are literally torturing and killing people by spreading terrible diseases?))

So... Yay! I want a walking-talking-notebook and mosquito nets! On top of a bunch of games and a tactile display and no debt and enough Executive Function to do smart people things and creative things again and, heck, let's throw in a Roland Jupiter 80 while we're writing letters to RICH!Santa. (Ooh, and how about a self-driving Red Corvette? Kinda been wanting one of those since I was 3. I had the 3-year-old-sized version and everything. ... Meh, fix my XP laptop to its 2006 condition, too. And where's my blasted Win98 Acer? ... And where'd my Genesis get to? I wanna play me some VR Troopers. And I never did get to see the ending of Kingdom Hearts. Could not convince anyone to level-grind enough to get past Chernabog. I'ma go look for Kingdom Hearts videos, now.)
