Depends on the game... Samurai Warriors 4, itself, doesn't have much to do... weapons are upgraded through the shop menu, which I don't know yet. Samurai Warriors 4-ii, the newer game, has a similar system, but there's more crafting and combinations available where you can combine atributes and the like.
