I don't think that device even does what most audiophiles want. If you have to place the computer in close proximity to the system, it probably introduces a lot of unwanted noise (both audible and electrical). The SB3 is a small and unobtrusive gateway between the computer, which can be placed in another room even, and the main system. Also, as far as storage and backup, the author of the review should have noted that a RAID 0 or 5 setup essentially solves the problem of robustness. (If only they were easier to administer for the average user!)
