Thanks for putting me right; I've now set the SB3's volume to around 37
(leaving some leeway for going up to 11).  As I said, I was happy enough
with the sound quality before, so I'll probably be delirious now! Alas,
the wife's in bed now, so "full subjective testing" will have to wait
until tomorrow. :-)
