You need to try both - the outcome is heavily system dependant. You cannot assume that one or the other is always better. There are too many variables at play (cables & plugs, earth quality, AC quality, stray RFI etc).
You may need to consider attenuating the Meridian line input if the SB is too "hot" for it (eg if normal listening volume is in the early part of the volume scale).
