What's the point of having external box unless you stream music from a laptop?

Otherwise why to pay $300+ just for enclosure, and not to simply squeeze another SATAII drive into your computer? When you're into hudreads of $ for enclosure, Infrant's ReadyNAS looks much more cost effective.
