Well if it's lossless, by definition the end resulting bitrate won't matter.
You can see it vary, depending on the track, anywhere from 500kbps to 1440kbps, but that all depends on how compressible the audio is. (Just like if you use zip to compress a text document or something -really- repetitive like a log file, you can get some impressive compression rates... if you use it to compress audio files it will usually suck.) The bitrate that Slimserver shows is just an indicator of how compressible the music was to your encoder. If you have a 10 minute track that is nothing more than a 200hz sine wave, it would probably compress reasonable well... if you have something more complex, it won't. In short, don't worry about bitrate with lossless: it is just an indicator how well the encoder works on a given piece. The decoder will always output what the origignal material was... or it isn't lossless. -- snarlydwarf ------------------------------------------------------------------------ snarlydwarf's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1179 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=26031 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
