Thank you for the wonderful tweak. I'm not sure why it matters, but yes setting that preamp mute made a difference in my system too. Its much cleaner sounding now so I'm sure I could crank it louder without problems too.
Here is an interesting question. Of the people that can hear an improvement who is also running a Benchmark DAC1?
