My personal opinion is that with your new budget, still consider the Class D amps, but pair it with a preamp. But if you're set on going with a no preamp setup, your budget starts to get into a range where there are some really good amps that will IMHO outclass the Class D offerings. Something like a Blue Circle BC26mkII, Sim Audio W5, Pass Labs X250.5 or BAT VK250. (disclaimer that I'm a Blue Circle dealer)...
