There are some rare failure modes where the Squeezebox can send out
full-range, 100% power white noise, the "white noise of death" as it's
been termed.  There were a few reports of this about 6-8 months ago,
nothing since (well, caused by the same spontaneous failure anyway) and
no Transporter has been reported doing this.

This was very, very rare.  Slim Devices was desperate to reproduce it
but it was so uncommon they have not been able to.  However, it's for
this reason that IIRC Sean advised some protection/attenuation in case
this did occur.

This is particularly important if you're using an auto-on amp or if you
keep the amp on.  There was a case where someone came home from work and
this was happening - had been going on for hours according to
neighbours.
