It's worth noting that in the post you link to, he says the intereference was there whether or not the SB was attached to the wallwart (it only mattered if the wart itself was plugged into the wall). Therefore the interference was caused by RF waves, which radiate in all directions from the source, and not from noise travelling along the wire between the wart and the SB.
I'm mentioning this because I suspect that not many people have their stereo system in total isolation from all sources of RF and all switching power supplies. For example, if you have *any other electronic component* near your SB or external DAC, the DAC will be bathed in RF noise sourced by the switching power supplies powering other electronics, not to mention interference from your TV screen, computer, radio waves from your local TV and radio stations, etc. My guess is that the DAC this guy built was unshielded and very sensitive to RF interference, which is simply a design flaw in the DAC, because unless you live inside a perfect Faraday cage there is always RF noise around. Note that he was in his garage when he observed this, where there may not have been many other sources of noise near the DAC. -- opaqueice ------------------------------------------------------------------------ opaqueice's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4234 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=30501 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
