It's worth noting that in the post you link to, he says the
intereference was there whether or not the SB was attached to the
wallwart (it only mattered if the wart itself was plugged into the
wall).  Therefore the interference was caused by RF waves, which
radiate in all directions from the source, and not from noise
travelling along the wire between the wart and the SB.

I'm mentioning this because I suspect that not many people have their
stereo system in total isolation from all sources of RF and all
switching power supplies.  For example, if you have *any other
electronic component* near your SB or external DAC, the DAC will be
bathed in RF noise sourced by the switching power supplies powering
other electronics, not to mention interference from your TV screen,
computer, radio waves from your local TV and radio stations, etc.  My
guess is that the DAC this guy built was unshielded and very sensitive
to RF interference, which is simply a design flaw in the DAC, because
unless you live inside a perfect Faraday cage there is always RF noise
around.  Note that he was in his garage when he observed this, where
there may not have been many other sources of noise near the DAC.
