You should treat dealers with a little more respect, I think. Try being up-front with them - say that your budget is tight, and ask them to help. Most would understand, be happy to give you a quick demo and try to price match as far as possible. They usually recognise that if they do their job well, you'll be back when you have a bit more cash for the upgrades. We can say plenty of rough things about dealers if we like, but we'd all be much worse off without them. Most of them are enthusiasts and not driving Ferraris, and they might even be nice people! If everyone just used them as unpaid resource, they'd go out of business and we'd be buying by guesswork. BTW you're not entirely right about floorstanders. A larger speaker will usually have more deep bass, but may have no other advantages. Often smaller speakers have 95% of the performance at 60% of the cost, and decent stands are quite cheap. -- adamslim SB3 into Derek Shek d2, Shanling CDT-100, Rotel RT-990BX, Esoteric Audio Research 859, Living Voice Auditorium IIs, Nordost and Anti-cables http://www.last.fm/user/AdamSlim/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ adamslim's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7355 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=32563 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
