I do have a SB3 running with an old (but excellent) electrocompaniet amplifier and Quad ELS57 loudpseakers. I've done FLAC of all my CD's and are about to start the same on my LP's. Sound is great, but are there improvements? I am using analogue out, since that is the only input on my amplifier. (I don't use preamp so i dont have any analoge volume or tone controller) only volume upanddown in SB3 and sound straight thru the system. Nice sound, warm and crispyclear. I read a lot about PSupgrade for the SB3 on this forum. I believe that the two most imortan things in a new PS must be stability (always 5V +/- 0.1 v?) and ripple.Howlow must the ripple be? I have a lot of fujitsu-siemens and Toshiba laptop-powers laying around. The deliver approx 15v, 2-3 A. If i regulate the power with a Zdiode down to 5.1 v, do you think this will be a good idea or is the PS too bad to use for SB3? (And how do i measure ripple?
