Sounds an interesting service. As for the bitrate discrepincy, there used to be a bug in SS that reported the bitrate from the initial chunk of audio as opposed to the average for the complete file. So if the start compresses easily (many tracks are like this) then SS will report the lower bitrate. I guess it is still a current bug.
