All the analysis is done on the power line waveform.  There is no
indication of what that waveform causes at the speaker.  Sure it looks
awful, but by the time you run it through a transformer, rectifier, a
bunch of capacitance, and maybe even a voltage regulator, what
difference could it possibly make?

You want to see horrible power waveforms?  Take a look at what comes
out of the rectifier in your power amp.  It doesn't matter if you use a
power regenerator or not.  That waveform is terrible looking.  So
what?!
