I have often wondered this myself, especially with my very efficient speakers (Zu Druids 101 Db). I think that the preamp section of an amp should be at the unity gain setting for it's best performance. That is the point where the preamp section is purely letting the signal pass through, with no gain or attenuation being applied. Redgum (Ian Robinson) should be able to tell you what the unity gain setting is.
Only one way to find out if improvement can be gained that is to experiment. -- dlite ------------------------------------------------------------------------ dlite's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4885 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=34140 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
